Who Are We Thriving Boomers?
Technically, a "Boomer,"or more precisely a "Baby Boomer" is any person born in the United states in the post World War II baby boom (from 1944-1964).
Please note that these dates and virtually any statistics related to Baby Boomers is rather fluid -- there is no official Boomer designation and no official keeper of the Boomer data. So don't be surprised or confused by any discrepancies in the numbers or definitions that you see. Use a common sense "smell test" and be critical about sources. Nevertheless, there is a phenomenon that we have chosen to call the "Baby Boom" and the population of persons born during the Baby Boom that are both affectionately and derogatorily referred to as "Boomers."
People talk about the population anomaly of the "baby boom" because it has had significant ramifications on the culture, politics, economics, and even the physical health of the United States, and even the world. We Boomers matter, not just to ourselves and each other, but because we, in the aggregate, represent cultural, economic and political influence -- power.
And, because we are of the same age, we also share many of the same threats, challenges, and potentialities.
